‘Ajimobi Is The Most Corrupt Governor’ – Alao-Akala

Adebayo Alao-Akala, a former Oyo state governor, told Abiola Ajimobi, the incumbent governor in the state, not to rely on the name of the president-elect, Muhammadu Buhari, in his bid to return as the state governor. Alao-Akala is the candidate of the Labour Party while Ajimobi is the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The Oyo governorship race also includes Rashidi Ladoja of the Accord Party, Seyi Makinde of the Social Democratic Party and a former senate leader Teslim Folarin of the Peoples Democratic Party.

The Punch reports that the statement was issued on April 6, by Oludare Ogunlana, the director of public affairs in the Alao-Akala campaign organisation. The former governor stressed in it that no amount of political tricks would save Ajimobi from losing in the governorship elections. According to him, Buhari and Ajimobi are two separate entities that could not work together. “Using Buhari’s name rather than his (Ajimobi) achievements is the greatest undoing a sinking governor can do to win at all cost. Buhari did not award contract at questionable amount or neglect meritocracy for mediocrity. “The APC administration is anti-masses as it has inflicted pains on the people as against its campaign promises in 2011. “Ajimobi is the most corrupt governor in the history of the state while Buhari is the only former head of state without a house in Abuja and the only former leader without an oil bloc.

How then does Ajimobi think using Buhari’s name to campaign will guarantee him victory?” Alao-Akala wondered. The former Oyo state governor alleged that the APC was planning to bring Buhari to the state to campaign on behalf of Ajomobi hoping that this would help to win votes for the governor. “To save Ajimobi from the imminent defeat in Saturday’s election, plans have been concluded to bring Buhari to Ibadan on Wednesday under the guise of ‘Thank you tour’ to shore up support for the drowning anti-masses governor but we believe that just like nothing was able to stop Buhari’s victory last week, Ajimobi is on his way out of the Government House,” he said.

Meanwhile, Muhammadu Buhari is still camgaigning and soliciting for votes. On April 5 the president-elect found time and energy to urge supporters of the APC to come out en masse on Saturday, April 11, to cast their votes for the party’s governorship and House of Assembly candidates across the country.
